We are not targeting only Yahoo boys – EFCC boss vows to go after ‘mega thieves’


Chairman of the Financial and Monetary Crimes Fee, EFCC, Ola Olukoyede, has dismissed insinuations that the company is barely going after web fraudsters, popularly often known as “Yahoo boys’.

Olukoyede assured that can lead a broad-based and holistic anti-graft conflict that will not spare anybody linked with any type of financial and monetary crimes.

The EFCC boss said this in an announcement by the company’s spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, on Monday in Abuja.

He gave the reassurance in Abuja at an Anti-Corruption Live performance organized to create higher consciousness and public involvement within the combat towards web crimes.

Olukoyede reaffirmed his dedication to an all-embracing, fully-integrated conflict towards corrupt practices.

“We is not going to spare anybody. We is not going to spare the mega thieves. As we’re doing the mega, we can even do these on the decrease finish.

“Within the final two months, we’ve got arraigned two former governors. So, it isn’t true that we’re solely centered on web fraudsters.

“In fact, web fraud is unhealthy sufficient however our focus is on each type of financial and monetary crimes,” he stated.

He cautioned youths towards indulging in internet-related offences, declaring that the implications of being convicted for such crimes are grave.

“Youths must know that being ex-convicts has profession limitations. Ex-convicts can’t run for public places of work, the stigma alone is even horrible.

“I urge you to keep away from web crimes by all means. Your future is extra necessary than any speedy beneficial properties from such crimes,” he stated.
