Nigerian Senate vows to protect rights of journalists

The President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has assured Nigerian media practitioners of the safety of their rights.

Akpabio’s assertion was contained in an announcement by his Particular Adviser on Media and Publicity, Hon. Eseme Eyiboh, to commemorate 2024 World Press Freedom Day.

He mentioned: “On behalf of the Senate and the Nationwide Meeting, I want to congratulate all media practitioners, particularly those that have put their lives on the road in pursuit of reality and justice.

“The tenth Nationwide Meeting is dedicated to all that may strengthen press freedom and we is not going to condone something that will trample on the rights of journalists.”

The lawmaker additionally charged the media trade to make acutely aware efforts to set an agenda on local weather change and educate the individuals.
