NASS to probe safety issues in aviation sector

The Joint Committee of the Senate and the Home of Representatives on Aviation has introduced plans to probe the Security Investigations Bureau and airways working in Nigeria over alleged sharp practices.

This was disclosed on Sunday by Abiodun Akinlade, Chairman Home Committee on Aviation Expertise, saying the committee would guarantee the security of Nigerians flying on native and worldwide airways.

He added that security of residents was a precedence of the tenth Nationwide Meeting, therefore, a summit has been proposed for all stakeholders and operators within the business to adjust to world set requirements.

“We won’t tolerate the concept of reducing prices on the expense of endangering passengers’ lives.”

In line with the lawmaker, there have been loopholes within the aviation business that wanted consideration, which the joint committees of the higher and decrease legislative chambers wish to handle within the curiosity of air vacationers.

“The proposed summit seeks to handle the loopholes within the legal guidelines that information the operation of airways in Nigeria with a view to strengthen the business and guarantee conformity with worldwide requirements practices,” he maintained.

To deal with the present challenges within the business, he stated mandatory amendments might be carried out by the legislators.

Akinlade assured that, upon the resumption, investigation might be carried out on the foundation causes of business points, together with requesting audit stories on the airways and stories from Security Investigation Bureaus.
