The Transmission Firm of Nigeria, TCN, on Monday, discouraged unlawful sand excavators from finishing up their actions round its transmission towers.
In an announcement on their official X web page, TCN stated the actions of sand excavators are a menace to their towers and operations.
The assertion reads “Lately, whereas on routine patrol on B1T and B2T Benin-Onitsha 330kV transmission strains. The TCN strains patrol crew found a violation of its transmission line Proper of Approach by sand excavators.
“The actions of excavators on this specific website have largely affected the integrity of Towers 15 and 16 at Umelu Group in Benin Metropolis.
“TCN notes that such unscrupulous actions by sand excavators round its towers causes deep erosion which impacts the inspiration of the towers, and might result in their collapse, inflicting energy outages.
“Tower collapse also can threaten grid stability and as well as, result in lack of lives and property.”
